Christmas Tree Hill
Above the Square — narrow switchbacks, bay views, the December lights.
Christmas Tree Hill rises directly west of the Square, a network of narrow winding streets climbing toward Ring Mountain. The housing stock is unusually diverse — 1950s ranches, mid-century moderns, and a steady run of contemporary rebuilds — and almost every upper parcel carries some view of the Bay or Mt. Tam. At the top of the hill, trails connect into the open space network that reaches all the way through to Mill Valley, Larkspur, and Kentfield.
What it's like
- Sweeping views of the Bay, Mt. Tam, and the city skyline from most upper-hill lots.
- The annual holiday-lights tradition that gave the hill its name is still active — neighbors coordinate displays each December.
- Steep grades mean stairs, retaining walls, and patient remodel logistics.
- Direct trail access up to Ring Mountain Preserve from the upper streets.
- Neil Cummins Elementary
- Hall Middle School
- Redwood High School
